Telegraph Journal October 7, 2010 SAINT JOHN - ACAP Saint John will host renowned environmentalist Alexandra Cousteau later this month on a tour of Marsh Creek.
Cousteau, who is on a 23,000-kilometre trek across North America documenting the role that water plays in supporting communities, will arrive in Saint John on Oct. 23 to learn about the Marsh Creek restoration project.
The creek is polluted by raw sewage outfalls, but ACAP Saint John, a local environmental organization, wants to restore the natural waterway after all sewage is funneled to treatment plants as part of the harbour cleanup project.
The group will hold a public session with Cousteau, granddaughter of the French explorer and filmmaker Jacques-Yves Cousteau, at the New Brunswick Museum followed by a fundraising dinner for the Marsh Creek project.
